My first words were “did McGovern win?”
Ok, that isn’t entirely true. But political campaigns have consumed me most of my life. Thankfully, I have some level of skill at running campaigns because I’m also consumed with WINNING.
As VP of campaigns at Cerrell Associates, I have my work cut out for me as we are running TWO of the top legislative races in the state … Cathleen Galgiani’s race for Senate District 5, and Jose Medina for Assembly in the newly created 61st District. These two outstanding candidates are working day and night to raise the money, meet voters and earn endorsements.
And if you think it’s just bragging to say these two are among the very top legislative races in the state, check this out … The Public Policy Institute of California just released its ranking of top state and federal races in 2012.
Assemblywoman Galgiani is a leader on transportation issues, championing the high-speed rail system and working tirelessly to bring jobs to California and her San Joaquin Valley based district. Elected in 2006, Cathleen is consistently ranked one of the most independent members of the legislature and receives support from both business and labor.
Jose Medina has been an educator for more than 35 years and is a former Riverside Community College District Trustee and school board member. Jose intrinsically understands the connection between good schools and good jobs and he’s running an aggressive campaign. Medina has already garnered the backing of an impressive (and growing) list of elected officials and organizations.
Along with our legislative candidates, CAI will once again be overseeing the best and brightest Judicial candidates in 2012. Our campaign team is busy busy busy and our dance card is almost full.
If you’re thinking about running for office, we should talk. But only if you’re consumed with WINNING, because we are.

Cerrell President Lisa Griztner's latest blog takes on the culture of elected officials going from local to state government and back again, identifies the problems and some benefits, and points out the flaws and needs of a political system that's always in campaign mode.
