Public Relations & Crisis Communications
As a Vice President at Cerrell, Dan leads the firm’s Public Relations & Crisis Communications practice area where he handles some of the firm’s most contentious and high-profile work. An award-winning practitioner, he provides a broad range of corporate, nonprofit and government clients with media, crisis communications, community relations and government relations counsel.
Prior to joining Cerrell, Dan gained broad experience executing complex communication and campaign strategies, and cultivated relationships with elected and community leaders and reporters across the Southern California region.
Dan worked as a speechwriter and communications aide for former Assembly Speaker John A. Perez, and later as Press Secretary on the campaign of mayoral candidate Wendy Greuel. In that role, Dan created day-to-day messaging and earned media strategy for the campaign, coordinated rapid response, led debate preparation, and was the campaign’s lead writer for speeches, talking points, policy messaging and press materials.
Dan later served as the Director of Civic Engagement at the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, where he lobbied elected officials and civic leaders in support of Israel and the LA Jewish community, and organized a broad network of politically active Jews.
Dan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Political Science. He is currently the Chair of the Jewish Federation’s Community Engagement Council, which holds regular meetings and events with Jewish leaders and elected, community and civic leaders throughout the city.
