Macaria Flores

As Vice President, Macaria leads the firm’s Energy and Environment practice area.  Macaria is an experienced environmental consultant, who supervises the strategic development, media and community outreach for energy and environmental and serves as a community, political and media liaison for her clients.

Prior to joining Cerrell Associates, Macaria worked at the City of Los Angeles, Department of Public Works as a Government/Legislative liaison for the Bureau of Sanitation.  In that capacity, she secured a 10-year financial stability plan for the department and developed a legislative blueprint for the City’s proposed alternative technology facilities.

Macaria served as political director for Los Angeles City Councilmember Tony Cardenas. During her tenure with his office, she successfully redeveloped brownfield properties for commercial and recreational use, enacted policy implementing a green taxi fleet for the city, and worked on permitting the city’s lone LEED certified state-of-the art materials recovery facility (MRF).  She also served as the councilmember’s delegate on the City’s alternative technology facilities delegation, visiting and evaluating numerous alternative technology facilities around the world.

Macaria began her career as an Environmental Scientist with the California Environmental Protection Agency, Regional Water Quality Control Board, Los Angeles Region.  At the Regional Board she worked on the Non-Point Source (NPS), Total Daily Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) and Proposition 84 programs. Working closely with environmental stakeholders, community groups, and regulatory agencies on the federal, state and local level.

A graduate of the University of Southern California and a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Macaria volunteers her time with many worthy causes including the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, the Girl Scouts and various humane organizations.
