While many flock to Nashville for the country music, night life, and world-famous barbeque, I came for a different reason: the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development’s (SHSMD) annual Connections Conference.
When I decided to run, I was immediately faced with criticism. “You’re too young; wait your turn; you’re too inexperienced; you don’t have any major financial backers,” and the list goes on. I was a 26-year-old public policy graduate from UC San Diego with three years of experience working at Cerrell and very little political capital.
Since our founding 53 years ago, Cerrell has always been intimately connected to Los Angeles – and to one street in particular – Larchmont Boulevard. Cerrell has proudly maintained its offices in Los Angeles’ smallest neighborhood since 1978 , and while Larchmont might simply sound like a street name, it’s so much more and a big part of Cerrell’s office culture.
